      <image:title>Home - A deeper, insight-oriented, body-based approach to healing</image:title>
<image:caption>While gaining insight into why you feel, think and act the way you do is often the first step, it isn’t usually sufficient for lasting change. Simply changing your thoughts isn’t typically enough either, because deep healing doesn’t happen on a cognitive level - the body has to be engaged as well. I believe that lasting healing has to take place from deep inside the body and the emotional system.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - A different kind of therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>You are not broken. You are not damaged. You created ways of dealing with the world and relationships that made sense at some earlier point in your life…but these ways no longer work for you. You’re ready for change but you don’t know how to get there. I can help you figure that out by supporting you in building better relationships with ALL of the parts of you, even those you wish you didn’t have.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Therapist</image:title>
<image:caption>Professional Background I’ve been a clinical social worker since 1996 when I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. I’ve worked with Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants, HIV+ men and women, children with developmental, emotional and behavioral struggles and their families, survivors of sexual abuse and assault, foster children and parents, Latinx immigrant families, and adults with depression, anxiety and other emotional struggles. I specialize in treating complex, developmental trauma. I’ve served as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte in the Graduate School of Social Work and have provided clinical internships in addition to clinical supervision for associate licensed social workers. I’m trained in EMDR, somatic approaches and Polyvagal Theory. I’m level 3 trained and certified in Internal Family Systems and am an approved IFS Consultant. traci@mandalacounselingservices.com Personal Background I was born in NJ, grew up in the panhandle of Florida and came of age in Texas, both Houston and Austin. I lived in San Francisco for a couple years before joining the Peace Corps and working in a children’s shelter/group home in Ecuador where I became fluent (mostly) in Spanish. I’ve made Charlotte my home for the last 20+ years. In addition to providing therapy, consultation and teaching I spend my time traveling to far flung places with my husband, reading, doing yoga, hanging out with friends and snuggling with my dogs. I’m a trauma survivor and find so much satisfaction in helping others heal from theirs. I have recently found even deeper healing through plant medicine and other entheogens and I look forward to facilitating others’ growth with the aid of these sacred substances in the near future.
