About the Therapist

Traci Withrow, LCSW

Professional Background

I’ve been a clinical social worker since 1996 when I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. I’ve worked with Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants, HIV+ men and women, children with developmental, emotional and behavioral struggles and their families, survivors of sexual abuse and assault, foster children and parents, Latinx immigrant families, and adults with depression, anxiety and other emotional struggles. I specialize in treating complex, developmental trauma.

I’m an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte in the Graduate School of Social Work and have provided clinical internships in addition to clinical supervision for associate licensed social workers.

I’m trained in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and Polyvagal Theory. I’m level 3 trained and certified in Internal Family Systems and am an approved IFS Consultant.

Personal Background

I was born in NJ, grew up in the panhandle of Florida and came of age in Texas, both Houston and Austin. I lived in San Francisco for a couple years before joining the Peace Corps and working in a children’s orphanage in Ecuador where I became fluent (mostly) in Spanish. I’ve made Charlotte my home for the last 19 years. In addition to providing therapy, consultation and teaching I spend my time traveling to far flung places with my husband, reading, doing yoga, hanging out with friends and snuggling with my dogs. I’m a trauma survivor and find so much satisfactions in helping others heal from theirs.

I have recently found even deeper healing through plant medicine and other psychedelics and look forward to facilitating others’ growth with the aid of these sacred substances in the near future. See my psychedelic support tab for more info!
